Product Description

Integrating Educational Technology into Teaching, 5e, the leading Educational Technology text on the market, introduces the concept of Technology Integration, shows pre-service teachers how to plan for Technology Integration, and offers them the opportunity to practice Technology Integration when designing curriculum to support and shape learning.

Integrating Educational Technology into Teaching, 5e incorporates two complementary instructional models to create a comprehensive technology integration framework built on strong research and proven techniques. The Technology Integration Planning Model (TIP Model) shows teachers how to create an environment in which technology can effectively enhance learning. While the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, new for the 5th edition, provides teachers with the knowledge and skills to overcome obstacles when integrating technology into their curriculum--across the content areas. The text balances the “why” and “how” of using technology to support and shape the future of technology in education.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent textbook presentation   February 23, 1999

This book is an excellent resource for teachers and schools looking to train teachers in the use of educational technology. The focus is not using technology for technology's sake, but integrating technology into the classroom. A very balanced approach--technology is used to enhance education and motivate students, it will not improve education just by simply bringing it into your classroom. Probably equally as good for teaching a college course.

5 out of 5 stars Appropriate Use of Technology is the Knowledge Challenge   June 14, 2006

A very worthy book. In the technology realm, people are the greatest challenge, in maximizing best use of technology, and in securing its appropriate use. I'm David Scott, author of I.T. Wars: Managing the Business-Technology Weave in the New Millennium. There are many parallels between the educational challenges and business challenges in the coming years, in aligning technology to the business at-hand. Technology is now a foundational underpinning to everything, and dependencies and vulnerabilities are best understood through early and ongoing education.
